On May 12, 2012 Garena began in May 2012 the Garena Premier League (GPL), a six-month-long online professional gaming league that has more than 100 games scheduled which will take place. The first season of GPL is an on-line League of Legends tournament with six professional teams. The teams are made up of the best players in their countries. GPL games and commentary are streamed online. The public can view them on the GPL website. In January 2013, Garena announced it would begin the Garena Premier League's season two began on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League, 2013 will feature two teams each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. The current total of eight teams is now expanded to nine. AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Taipei Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels are the teams. It is the Garena E-Sports arena, an esports facility is a venue that was inaugurated in November of 2014, in the Neihu District of Taipei. The first studio was opened in the month of November 2014 to coincide with the beginning of the League of Legends Masters Series. It's the top LoL Taiwanese as well as Hong Kongese and Macau LoL League, which spun off from the GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League the first women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. It is a monthly event which is played in the second part of every month. The purpose of the event is to encourage participation in underrepresented groups, and it's accessible to all who identify as a woman. Garena holds offline events to people who are looking to get connected and have a chat. The most notable of these is an annual Garena Carnival which takes place in Singapore as well as Malaysia.
